Emerald Technology Ventures has been selected by Ontario Capital Growth Corporation (OCGC) for a $35-million commitment to Emerald’s newest fund. This fund, with a target size of $100 million, is currently fundraising towards a first close before year-end, and will focus on Canadian cleantech opportunities, including those in the water sector.
Emerald is looking forward to a significant expansion of its Canadian Cleantech portfolio, with the OCGC as an anchor investor. The new fund will enable Emerald to expand the Canadian team, attract additional deal flow, and support local entrepreneurs from Ontario and across Canada.
Emerald has offices in Zurich, Switzerland and Toronto, Canada, and manages assets of over $660 million USD to date. It is a globally recognized investment firm in the areas of energy, water, advanced materials, and industrial IT.
OCGC is a venture capital agency of the government of Ontario that was created to promote and develop the venture capital sector in Ontario, so that more high-potential technology companies have access to the capital needed to grow and prosper. OCGC investment activities have resulted in over $300 million invested in high potential technology companies.
