The SWAN North American Alliance will host a half-day (afternoon) Workshop on November 4 at the annual CWWA National Water and Wastewater Conference, which this year will be held in Montreal from November 4-7.
Digitalization efforts impact and deliver value to all components of water and wastewater networks. This half day Workshop, facilitated by the SWAN North American Alliance, will explore the potential for data-based, smart water solutions to transform utility management and operation. Energy consumption, climate change, and greenhouse gas reduction are all emerging concerns that are impacting the way utilities operate and plan for the future. Smart water solutions can offer the data needed for optimization and planning in light of the growing environmental and financial pressures on utilities.
Themes to be explored during the half day workshop, though presentation, interactive panel discussions and roundtables include (final agenda to be confirmed):
- Canadian water and wastewater utility best practices
- Digital transformation and data-driven innovation excellence
- Customer engagement and organizational transparency
- The future of Canadian smart water networks
Facilitated discussion will help determine the current status of smart water networks in Canada, and start to identify how CWWA can take steps to best support the industry in advancing smart water goals for utilities and stakeholders. Roundtables will address various core themes to smart water. Most importantly a clear conversation and debate will be stimulated among workshop participants to increase awareness and adoption of smart water solutions in water and wastewater utilities.
The event is still accepting speaker applications for the workshop sessions. To apply, please send a 500-word abstract by September 28 to Shirley Ben Oak.
